Position: Substitute Van Driver/Cook

Starting Pay: $10.00 per hour (30 hours per week)

Rio Arriba County is seeking a responsible party to provide a variety of transportation services for Senior Program participants such as; shopping; pick up seniors at home and transport to senior center; transport to recreational activities; and other destinations as needed on a Substitute Basis.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Provides a variety of transportation services for Seniors such as taking Seniors to senior Centers, shopping, pharmacists and recreational activities, etc.,
  • Assist kitchen staff in preparing, serving, and packing meals on wheels
  • Maintain a vehicle maintenance report that will be submitted monthly to supervisor
  • Conduct a daily vehicle check
  • Insure that all proper documentation pertaining to the vehicle and driver are in vehicle at all times
  • Provide assistance to seniors boarding and disembarking from the van at all times.
  • Maintain a vehicle maintenance report and submits monthly to Supervisor;
  • Conducts a daily vehicle check which should include but be limited to checking oils, transmission fluid, windshield fluid, tire inflation, vehicle cleanliness, insures that proper documentation pertaining to the vehicle and driver is in vehicle at all times;
  • Verifies that all Fire Extinguishers and First Aid Kits are stored and stocked at all times;
  • Provides assistance to seniors boarding and disembarking from the van at all times;
  • Obeys all traffic laws and regulations pertaining to transportation vehicles;
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Director/Supervisor/Designee

Special Requirements:

           Employee must complete and pass a pre-employment drug test;

           A Valid New Mexico Driver’s License is required

Essential Job Duties: 

  • Supervises and participates in the preparation and cooking of meats vegetables, salads breads and other foods according to standardized recipes according to the 1/3 RDA requirements;
  • Operates large and standard cooking equipment;
  • Ensures proper maintenance of kitchen equipment;
  • Ensures cleanliness of kitchen and equipment on a daily basis;
  • Conducts food orders on a monthly basis according to menu;
  • Conducts inventory on a regular basis, knowledge of perpetual inventory;
  • Monitors and prepares appetizing meals for Senior Program participants in accordance with nutritional guidelines one month in advance;
  • Conducts Kitchen Assessments monthly and assures follow up to meet all code compliance and program policy;
  • Will report to the Espanola Coordinator; 

Skills & Qualifications: 

  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience;
  • Five (5) years cooking experience; 
  • Experience in inventory control; 
  • Experience preparing food orders;
  • A Valid New Mexico Driver’s License is required;
  • A High School Diploma or GED Certificate is required;
  • Knowledge of Computer use preferred;
  • Experience in shipping and receiving work is preferred;
  • Experience in working with Senior Citizens and some knowledge of the aging process is preferred;
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations;
  • Ability to understand and communicate in English.

POSITION: ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER

DEPARTMENT: SHERIFF’S/ANIMAL CONTROL (ESPANOLA)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Patrols assigned area to enforce animal control ordinances; Issues warnings/citations to violators; Responds to citizens’ complaints; Captures and impounds stray domestic and exotic animals;
  • Research vaccination information to locate owners;
  • Investigates animal bite cases, responds to emergency calls and performs field inspections;
  • Maintains records and prepares reports related to animal control activities;
  • Appears in Court to testify regarding violations;
  • May be exposed to lifting (50 to 80 lbs.) climbing, walking, stooping and hazards dust, odors, fumes, animals and infectious diseases;
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk up to four hours at one time and up to eight hours total per day. May be required to take job courses;

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must provide a High School Diploma or GED Certificate and a total of 6 months’ experience either in animal control or as an Animal Control Officer Trainee;
  • Must provide a valid New Mexico Driver’s License;
  • Ability to communicate and to follow instructions in English; Ability to provide verbal or written directions to subordinates in English;
  • Required to obtain Animal Control Certification within one year of employment;

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (location, working hours, travel, etc.):

  • Will work in all types of weather conditions;
  • Will be on call after regular working hours, works out of the Espanola Complex;

As a Driver I with Rio Arriba County (RAC) your primary job duty is to maintain work areas for the safety of the work crews. The candidate will operate light equipment in all phases of construction. Further responsibilities of an RAC Driver I include: 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: 

  • Sets warning signs on work areas for safety;
  • Dispenses fuel into County Vehicles; Ensures County Vehicles are clean and presentable to the public eye at all times;
  • Maintains and operates light equipment such as pick-up trucks, lawn mowers, chainsaws, etc.;
  • Inspects equipment and prepares preventive maintenance reports in a timely manner; Maintains all required documentation;
  • Operates equipment in accordance with Local, State and Federal Rules and Regulations;
  • Conducts regular maintenance and repairs to fences, gate structure and maintain road signs as per M.U.T.C.D. standards;
  • Report safety infractions to immediate supervisor promptly;
  • Will be responsible and accountable for all assigned County Property;
  • Schedule maintenance on assigned equipment, perform minor repairs on equipment, report malfunctions or failures to supervisor, maintain equipment logs, complete daily work reports;
  • Install and clean culverts, cattle guards, guardrails and maintain road signs as per M.U.T.C.D. standards. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Able to travel within the County;
  • Stand, walk for up to four (4) hours at a time, work irregular hours, exposed to loud and disruptive noise from equipment;
  • Subject to extreme hot or cold temperatures, wet, dry, or greasy natural ground, asphalt;
  • May be exposed to walking, stooping, climbing, carrying and various hazards such as infectious diseases, chemicals, fumes, heights, power equipment and icy surfaces. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A valid New Mexico Driver’s License is required;
  • Knowledge of traffic laws, hazards and applicable safety precautions;
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions;
  • Knowledge of hand and power tools commonly used on road construction;
  • Must be able to lift and/or move fifty (50) to sixty (60) pounds;
