James D. Lujan was sworn in as Rio Arriba County Sheriff and Martin Trujillo was appointed undersheriff during a ceremony following the commission meeting on Thursday, October 2, 2014.Sheriff Lujan is committed to the well-being and safety of the people of Rio Arriba County. Through cooperation, communications, partnerships, and dedication Sheriff Lujan will work closely with all law-enforcement agencies in the region, ensuring public resources are used efficiently and effectively. Last but certainly not least, Sheriff Lujan will work diligently to restore the public’s faith in the ability of the Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s Office, ensuring integrity, honesty and leadership are incorporated in the everyday execution and enforcement of the office by both he and his deputies.

The Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s Office is committed to working in a problem-solving partnership with individuals, community groups and businesses to fight crime and improve the quality of life for the people of Rio Arriba County.

Shopping for those in Need COVID-19

The Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s Office, Century Bank, along with the assistance of HOY Recovery (Non-Profit Organization) have partnered together to help provide Rio Arriba County Citizens who are currently struggling to put food on their table during this unforeseen COVID-19 pandemic.

The Rio Arriba Sheriff’s Office is asking for your help by identifying Rio Arriba County Citizens who may be potential candidates for this assistance. The project (Shopping for those in Need) is geared towards assisting families, individuals and the elderly who are grappling with a financial burden to put food on the table.

Please contact the Rio Arriba Sheriff’s Office at (505-753-3329) between the hours of 0800am to 500pm: Monday through Friday, to refer any potential candidates. Please ensure you provide any and all contact information to include working phone numbers. The Rio Arriba Sheriff’s Office and Century Bank look forward to helping those in need.
