Commissioner Alex M. Naranjo, District II

Mr. Alex M. Naranjo was sworn into his first-term to the Rio Arriba County Commission on January 2, 2015. Mr. Naranjo has been in public service since 1974, when he was elected to the Espanola Public Schools Board of Education, a position he held for 18 years. In 1990, Mr. Naranjo was elected to serve a two-year term as Rio Arriba County Clerk, after which he chose to focus on home and family life for a time. In 2000, Mr. Naranjo was elected as a Rio Arriba County Magistrate Judge, a position he retired from in 2014, at which time his daughter Alexandra C. Naranjo was elected to succeed him, continuing in a family tradition of public service. He and his wife, Lenore Naranjo celebrated their 50th year of marriage in 2014. Alex and Lenore have two daughters, Alexandra and Kendra and are blessed with four granddaughters, Rebecca, Miranda, Kendell and Peyten.
