Commissioner Leo V. Jaramillo, Dist. II

Commissioner Leo Jaramillo is a native son of the Espanola Valley and a proud alumnus of Espanola Valley High School. Upon high school graduation, Commissioner Jaramillo attended the University of New Mexico, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and Journalism and a Master of Arts in Education/Curriculum Design and Instructional Leadership from the College of Santa Fe. Commissioner Jaramillo had the opportunity to work as a news writer/producer for KRQE News 13 in Albuquerque and as a middle school teacher in Belen prior to returning to the Espanola Valley.

Since 2003, Commissioner Jaramillo has been employed at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) where he has served as a professional staff assistant, communication specialist, training specialist, recruiter, financial analyst, and most recently, chief of staff.

Commissioner Jaramillo was elected to serve his first term on the County Commission (District 2) in 2019 and will represent Rio Arriba on the North Central Regional Transit District Board and the Regional Coalition of LANL Communities Board.
